How life has improved by smart gadgets

Technology has been playing a fantastic role in providing essential services to mankind and it will upgrade itself even more in the years to come. From smartphones, smart-TVs, to Google Glass, smartwatches, high-quality features are now being integrated into even smaller and compact devices which are portable. The only thing that drives this enhancement of technology is the ever increasing needs of humans. But with advancements in technology, the level of expectations are rising too. Something which is new today becomes outdated tomorrow. The latest gadgets around us are becoming smarter day by day with newer features being integrated to it.

There was a time when the mobile phone was used for simply communicating with another person. A decade ago, this very device would cost a minimum of 10k. As time flew, slowly the back of the phone had a small shiny lens attached to it for capturing photos. A few more years later, smartphones made a grand entry into the market. Yes, they are smart with all the essential features. It had touchscreens, GPS, a well-defined processor with efficient RAM and so on. Also there’s a virtual assistant acts like your personal secretary which performs anything you tell her to(yes, Cortana and Siri). This enabled a user to access anything at the touch of a button. Any information is available on-the-go with all apps installed into one small device.

The small screens of phones were a nuisance to some which gave rise to tablets. But to those who are always on-the-go, a smartwatch is used in sync with a smartphone. This ‘smart’ watch with its innocent miniature screen comes packed with all Android features, Google apps and is currently being developed by Motorola, Samsung, LG and others.

Earlier, devices were bound by wires for their operation. With the implementation of Bluetooth, NFC, Infrared, Wi-Fi, gadgets have become even more portable. Two devices may send data at the touch of a button. Mobiles had to be held to enable communication. But, this restricted the user to perform any other task. This brought headphones into picture, but it did not solve the problem of wires. So, this resulted in forming Bluetooth headsets which completely supported the ‘hands-free’ feature. Lately, Bluetooth has been implemented in audio speakers.

Presentations in corporate offices have always required projectors to be attached to laptops. However those were not portable. This was noted by ZTE and launched a projector which was not only wireless but also had a touchscreen with the latest Android operating system. It enabled users to use a projector to store files thereby requiring only one device to be used.

Televisions have been an important source of entertainment since a long time. This has been used as an advantage by manufacturers to add extra features. TVs nowadays have internet connectivity, enabling users to install applications, access the web, and were rightfully named Smart-TVs. LG and Samsung are currently in the race for being No.1 in the Smart-TV market.

Video games are a fantasy for almost all of us. But, the usual game controllers would only control the movements of characters. With this, the need of simulation emerged. Xbox launched a one-of-its-kind simulator which provided the look and feel of the game to players. Now, devices are even more improvised with IFTech using sensors, which are attached to a player’s body to experience the feelings of the characters, in their lately released suit-Ariag.

All of us are health-conscious. Technology has not spared this aspect of our lives. A simple toothbrush used for brushing teeth now measures gum decay, uncleaned areas of the mouth. Kolibree’s smart toothbrush is one of them. And that’s not it. It connects it via Bluetooth to your smartphone. And now, Microsoft, Push, Mio and others are launching their own version of fitness bands which measure blood pressure, your workout capacity, and more.

It is apparent that today, each activity of ours is dependent on technology in some way or the other. The things that seemed impossible a long time ago are now easily done within minutes. Gadgets use the intelligence given to them beyond a capacity which humans cannot even imagine. It is for this reason that even today, there are various aspects of technology waiting to be explored. In the days to come, technology may become the master of mankind due to humans’ extensive reliance on the same.
