How to manage expenses smartly without money in hand
It’s so damn hard to keep track of all the money that is being spent on those energy bars or in those canteens with your friends. So, here are some easy peesy tips to help you keep track of all the money that you’ve spent, manage that money and also save more! Read on to learn more…
#1 Carry arounds:
First and the foremost thing that you need to do is to buy a pocket diary and a pen. Carry these two around wherever you go- shopping, window shopping, clubbing, exams (just kidding…). Whenever you spend money, you write it down in this cute little pocket diary.
#2 No rounding up:
Do not round up the amounts when you write down how much you spent. It might seem like just a few decimals and a very petty amount to not round up but trust me, when it’s the end of the month you’ll have a whole bunch of change which you would’ve spent unconsciously if you had rounded the decimals to whole numbers.
#3 Ask yourself
Ask yourself the most important questions- do I need this? Can I postpone this expense till tomorrow or later? And if the answer is yes, do that. (Warning: do not go all shopaholic and make excuses as to why you need that dress. do the opposite and make excuses as to why you don’t need it!)
#4 Cut down on the snacks:
Food can be extremely expensive when you buy it everyday. So, try and cut it down on the buying and try packing your sandwiches for lunch. This will save you a ton of money!
#5 Keep track of your income
It’s not only important to keep track of your expenses but you also need to keep track of your income, your pocket money, pension whichever suits you. This will tell you how much you saved at the end of the month and give you a new reason to smile!
#6 No expensive gifting:
Stop buying expensive gifts for your peers or your lover when their hearts can be satisfied with something as simple as a card or a bouquet of flowers in case of your girlfriend. You don’t always need money to express your unconditional love!
#7 Shut yourself up:
You know the part of yourself that’s luring you into buying those shoes or those tickets to the game? Yes, the part which has no self controls whatsoever! You need to tie it to a chair in chains and duct tape and lock it into a dark room inside your head, lock the door and eat the key. Don’t let it give in to the temptations around you.
#8 Search through the city:
Whatever you’re buying from the regular store can be bought real cheap at that other shop. So you need to do a city field trip and find out new stores where you get the same things at literally 80% price. This way you save 20 %( if you do the proper math).
All the best with all the saving this year fellas. You’re welcome in advance!
